Clearing Obstructions On The Luther

Late last year members of the Laurencekirk Angling Association were out on the river, just downstream from Luther Bridge clearing a serious obstruction. A huge tree had fallen into the river, was collecting debris and blocking the flow.

As you can see from the photos the Luther was virtually blocked and the water was eating into the bank they were working off. They tried to pull the root ball over to the side with the tractor to protect the bank where it had been eaten into but it just pulled the tractor off its back wheels so it had to be left.

Still a good job. Well done the LDAA, this again shows that anglers are among the very few who are prepared to get out there and work for the benefit of the rivers.
